GREEN LIGHT / THUMBS UP / THUMBS DOWN
ゴーサイン（許可）／賛同／不賛同
- The green light is permission to start doing something, such as taking action on a project.
If someone gives a thumbs up to something, they agree to it or think it is good.
If someone gives a thumbs down to something, they do not agree to it or do not think it is good. - green light とは、計画に着手するなど、何かを始めるための許可のことです。
thumbs up とは、何かに賛成したり、よいと思っている、という意味です。
thumbs down とは、何かに賛成しなかったり、よいと思わない、という意味です。
- a: When do you think you'll be able to return to work?
b: Soon, I hope. I'm waiting for the green light from my doctor. - The government has given Berlitz Pharmaceuticals the green light to begin production of their new drug, which has been shown to significantly improve pronunciation and increase vocabulary.
- As soon as we get a green light from the top brass, we're going to start planning for our first company retreat.
- If this grant proposal gets a thumbs up, we'll have all the funding we need for the next five years.
- a: General Affairs gave the thumbs down to my suggestion that we allow pets in the office to improve morale.
