テレビの視聴率 vs. 映画のレーティング
- A rating for a TV program is a measure of how many people watch the program and how popular it is.
A rating for a movie is a letter or number that tells you what age group the movie is suitable for (based on the amount and kind of violence, sexuality, etc., in the movie). The most common ratings for movies in the United States are:
G - suitable for all ages
PG - may not be suitable for children
PG-13 - may not be suitable for children, especially under 13
R - children under 17 can't go to the movie without a parent
The verb form is rate. - テレビ番組についての rating とは、その番組がどれくらいの人に視聴されているか、どれくらい人気があるかを表すもの、つまり、視聴率のことです。
映画についての rating は、その映画が（作品中の暴力、性的場面などの数や種類を基に）どの年齢層に適しているかを表す文字や数字、つまり、レーティングのことです。アメリカにおける最も一般的な映画の rating は次のとおりです。
G - あらゆる年齢に適している
PG - 子供には適していない可能性がある
PG-13 - 特に１３歳未満の子供には適していない可能性がある
R - １７歳未満の子供は保護者の同伴がなければ見に行くことができない
動詞形は rate で、評価する、格付けする、という意味です。
- Television ratings for the Beijing Olympics broke almost as many records as the athletes.
- Since Max Berlitz took over as host, the late night talk show has gone up in the ratings.
- I don't understand why that movie received an R rating. It really wasn't that violent.
- It's one of the highest-rated reality shows on television.
- Few big movies are rated G these days, because a lot of people think that G-rated movies are only for kids.
