Explanation

  • If something changes over time (such as technology, a patient's health, or the progress of a campaign), its status is its condition (“state”) at a particular time.
  • status とは、（例えば、科学技術、患者の健康、キャンペーンの進展など）物事が時間とともに変化する場合における、特定の時点での状況や状態、という意味です。

  1. a: What's the status of the project?
    b: I don't know. I still haven't received the interim report from the project director.
  2. Given the current status of talks with the union, I don't think we should expect an early end to the strike.
  3. (stockbroker to client)
    I've just read that company's latest financial status report, and they seem poised for some very rapid growth.
  4. (applicant calling potential employer)
    I'm just calling to check on the status of my application.
