Passion and enthusiasm are wonderful things. But like anything, they need to be used with discipline; otherwise, there is often waste and regret. We'll be talking about excess enthusiasm in today's edition!

- To get carried away is to do more than you should or more than is necessary because you are too eager or excited.
- get carried away は、熱中しすぎたり、興奮しすぎたりして、必要以上のことをしてしまう、という意味です。
- I want you to organize this year's Christmas party. We only have about 50,000 yen in the budget, so don't get carried away.
- a: I thought you were only going to paint the office. Now I see you've replaced all the desks and chairs and put in new wall-to-wall carpeting!
b: Yes, I guess I got a bit carried away. - a: If we don't stop using up our natural resources so quickly, the earth will be a desert in 50 years.
b: Wait a minute. I agree we need to conserve, but don't you think you're getting a little carried away?
It's sometimes hard not to get carried away, but the expression “Less is more” is a good philosophy for both life and business!
